Element 5 of 8

Image
Element 5 of 8, Stone, steadfast and sure of it's place, yet can be judged for what's on the outside. For this image I used a tutorial that I found on my flash drive, in the same folder that I have for my Paint.NET creations, that Heatstroke sent me a long time ago. I never tried it and decided I'd give it a whirl. To my surprise it came out to look a lot like crystals you would see inside some rocks! I then added a few swirls to give it that layered look you would find in some mountains near my hometown and there you have it! I did overlay a few other colors to make it the colors that it is, but aside from that, nothing too crazy. I decided since it was my birthday a few days ago I should make one that reflected my love for the desert. Thanks for sticking around and be sure to be back next week! Hint: Found on 29% of the planet's surface.

Element 4 of 8

Element 4 of 8, Water, compassionate, caring, and playful, but can have times of tempest and rage. Half way there!! I played around a lot with layer blend modes for this one. I would distort the crap out of one thing that I made and then when I got something I liked, I would play with the layer blending to see what looked right. In the end, you get what you see here. I also made it very smooth and soft with Gaussien Blur (or however you spell it) so that it had that calm sense of life below the ocean. I then added a bit of a lighter blue to add the light since it was a dark image to begin with, and then bubbles since it adds to the underwater feel. Nothing too fancy with the bubbles since they're small, but if you'd like to know how I made them, just let me know in the comments. I think that the image came out just how I wanted. Be back next week for another element, of which you can see a hint for below! Hint: Usually found in the desert.

Element 3 of 8, Air, likes change, playful, loves to see the big picture, but erratic sometimes. Welcome back to the third installment of this 8 series elemental images, the Elemental Power of Air. I made this one in stages. I finished it a while back, but then as I was making and tweaking next weeks element and looked at this one again, I thought it needed more than what I had put into it, so I tweaked it some more. It was hard to get the colors and blend modes right, but I think I have depicted what air would be like if you could see it, bright, playful, and full of color. I have about the same kind of stuff going on here, but I have the focal point in the center, and green for a playful/garden sort of feel, as well as blue for the sky. The white just adds some light and sort of "power" to the image per say. I used basically the same stuff that I used for the last few elements, but I tried to limit my use of Radial Blur Deluxe. I hope you all enjoyed and join me next

Element 2 of 8

Element 2 of 8, Fire, a sign of courage, compassion, and devotion, yet very dangerous! I thought after doing the Elemental Power of Ice, it was time to warm up a bit and make a fire one. Must stay warm during the winter season and I hope that this helps. I used pretty much the same methods as I did for the Ice one, but used the render effect of Fire and used Glass Blocks here and there, and more Dents for the wisps of fire. Again, lots of Radial Blur Deluxe here, but I tried not to use it to the extent of the Ice one since I like using that effect for ice and frost. I also did a lot of layer blending modes that I haven't really done or tried before and I like how they turned out. It gave me the brightness that I wanted as well as the effects of fire that I was looking for. Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed this series and I hope to post yet another element next week. Hint: It is everywhere!

Element 1 of 8, Ice, misunderstood and often keeps to itself, but is knowledgeable and caring. Elemental Power of Ice! Here you go, the first of the 8 element series, and guess what, it's the 1st of February! What perfect timing to start these off! Anyways, about the image. Lot's of Radial Blur Deluxe to add the icy feel to it, but also Zoom Blur Deluxe. I didn't imagine the lines in the background would happen with the Radial Blur, but they did and I think it adds to the depth and icy nature of the image. It was originally going to be all light blue, but upon further tinkering and input from a good friend, I added the darker blue for added glow and color. I also added a front layer of white to make it have a frosted look to it, but sometimes I think I like it better without the white. Thanks to all for keeping up with this blog. I hope you enjoyed the first installment of this series, and stay tuned for the next image which will be posted here next week. Hint: S&#
