Heart Strings

Image
It's Valentines Day, and I hope it's a good one for you. I know there are some of you out there that may or may not have someone to share it with. I also know that there may be some out there that feel like they are being played, like someone is pulling on their heart strings or something. I hope that you all find someone to share this holiday with since it really is a great feeling to have someone with whom to share it with. I have done art on this holiday to show the positive and negative of this holiday, and now I guess I should do a skeptic's point of view, hence Heart Strings. Very smooth elements here, with Frosted Glass making an appearance, as well as the classics such as Gaussian Blur, Dents, and Radial Blur for the background. I then took some Radial Blur elements, merged them together, and did a Polar Inversion and a Radial Extruder to give some texture in the background. Those gave the element of strings, and some of the original Radial Blur elements as well. Ho...

Ectoplasm

Image
It's Halloween, and I hope everyone is doing well. Since getting Apophysis 7x, I've been doing as much as I can with Fractals. I started with a purple and blue fractal, and heavily manipulated it here again with many different effects. It also took me about three tries to get this looking right since the first two it was much too bright in the center. This third take I changed everything completely and so now I give you Ectoplasm. I did Radial Blur for the subtle background, then some Polar Inversion for the rest of it. I then added Dents, and blurred everything out with Gaussian Blur. The main layer blend modes I used were Screen, Glow, Overlay, and Negation. Hope you enjoyed the bonus image this month, and I'll see you again next month.

Mystic Rosettes

Image
As you may have noticed, I've only posted one image in January, and here I am on Valentines Day to give you yet another image. I'm a bit bogged down with work and home life taking a greater toll, so I may not be able to do two images each month like I have been. I'll keep you posted on that. This one I wanted to make it look a bit flowery and to make it pink for Valentines Day. I think I accomplished both feats with this image titled Mystic Rosettes. The center is what I started with, mostly making a flower shape out of scribbles. I then did a Gaussian Blur to blur it out a bit, then did a few radial blurs to spread it out a bit. I then did two Polar Inversions to kind of separate them and give it a few inner "pedals" in the center. I then filled in some black with some rose color, and did some more Radial Blur and created the two bigger "pedals" on the outside. Hopefully the wait wasn't too long and that you were excited to see what I had in...

Spirit of Kwanzaa

Image
Happy Kwanzaa! Here is the last of the December Holidays. I knew the colors of Kwanzaa, but had to look them up to make sure they were right. I then started with a red background and had the red in the middle, while I had black and green added on both sides. I'm not sure if the order of the colors matters, but if it does, I apologize for that, and I'll do better next time around. Here is the image called Spirit of Kwanzaa. I mostly used Polar Inversion, and Radial Blur. I then used the layer blend modes Additive, Lighten, and Difference to give it the look that it does. I had fun with this little project of December Holidays and I hope that next year I'm able to do it again. If you have suggestions for other images or projects make sure to comment below or email me those ideas.

O Christmas Tree

Image
Merry Christmas! I hope that you are all having a great time and that you got to spend time with those that mean the most to you. I created this image a while ago, but decided to wait to post it until now. I had a vision in my head about what I wanted to do for a Christmas image, and I wanted to do a close up of a Christmas Tree. I found a tutorial on the Paint.NET forums and gave it a whirl. It wasn't difficult, just a bit time consuming like the tutorial said, but I got it looking how I wanted it to. I then added the orbs and lights to the tree which made it seem a bit more real. I then decided to try to add some texture to the wall and I did that using a rendering called Clouds, and then I made the wall a little transparent to allow the texture to come through. Aside from that, not many effects were used, nor layer blend modes. I hope the holidays are good to you all!

Hanukkah Celebration

Image
Happy Hanukkah! Here is the first of the December Holidays that I mentioned. I looked up the colors of Hanukkah and they were blue and white, so I got started with those. I wanted to do a bit more like I usually do, but I had a certain combination of layer blend modes that I really liked so I couldn't do much more than what I have here. Here is Hanukkah Celebration. I did a few effects that you can see right off the bat. Radial Extruder, Radial Blur, and Polar Inversion were all used here. I also used Darken and Overlay as the main layer blend modes. I think it looks pretty good, not what I was going for, but I think it still looks pretty good. Enjoy and I'll see you here again soon.

December Holidays

I had a thought of doing a December Holiday series and posting an image for three holidays that I know of in December. Those holidays include Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa. Reason I am wanting to do that is to include all of the holidays instead of just doing Christmas like I have been doing. I hope you enjoy that and I'll see you here with the first image on the 22nd.

Halloween Mist

Image
Happy Halloween. I hope tonight is/was a good night for you all. Once again, I used the old Paint.NET on my older computer, but added some of my new favorite effects to use. I created this as a photo manipulation of Halloween Wolves that I made about two years ago. I then created a few new aspects of it to give you what I have here today, which I call Halloween Mist I was a bit lost in the making of this image, and it took longer that I care to admit honestly. I finally got something that I liked and it still felt like it was missing something. I then saw an eye and decided to play with that idea. The green could be the mane of the horse, while the purple is some stray mist as well, but not sure what you think of that idea. Should I rename the piece? For now, it will be called as it is. I'll see you here next time.

Dying Heart

Image
I was going for a Valentines Day theme with this image at the beginning, then I realized that it was similar to other images I've made. I decided to make the heart look a bit dead since Valentines Day can be a sad time of year too. Some people may not have a significant other to celebrate with or show their appreciation. Worst case senario, a couple breaks up on Valentines Day. I made this image depicting just that and I call it Dying Heart. I created the background using the same effects as always, but a new effect is making a debut here called Glass Vignette. I also have Dents, Radial Blur and Polar Inversion in the mix. The heart I made by making half of the heart, duplicating the layer, then flipping it. I then erased imperfections and there you have it. Enjoy that rendition of a Valentines image and I hope you are all happy and well. I’ll see you here again soon.

Thanksgiving Warmth

Image
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I can say that even though winter is around the corner, and fall has nearly come and gone, it is one of those days that just feels warm. I love Thanksgiving, since it is a time to feel thankful for all that life has brought to our lives and it is a time for family and friends to gather and enjoy each other's company. For this reason, I made this image a warm and inviting one. I was trying to think of how to make another Thanksgiving image since it is hard to make an abstract image of a holiday. I went back to the image from last year and it helped me with the color pallet so that I had something to start with. I then went for the smooth background that has become my style since last year and I have developed it into what it is now. When I finished, I realized I had the center of the piece on the same side as last year's so I  flipped it to make it different. Not much else to say now except to remind everyone to be thankful for the things you ha...

Candy Corn Dreams

Image
This I made a while ago (like about a year ago), and I decided to post it on here just for kicks. I did another photo manipulation here, with Orange Energy as the base, and I wanted to share this with you close to Halloween. Also it has some fall colors in there, so I feel it is ideal for this time of year. Here's the old image called Orange Energy. This one I was experimenting with Kaleidoscope and a few other effects that I don't remember. Here is Candy Corn Dreams. Radial Blur Deluxe, Polar Inversion, and Splinter blur. I then added two little orange dents and filled in some dark areas. Hopefully you enjoy these images and enjoy your Halloween in a couple days. Get lots of candy, and then eat some Candy Corn.

Independence Day Spirit

Image
Hello everyone, today is the Fourth of July, and here in the United States, it is the day we celebrate our freedom. To portray this in an abstract way, I took some of the well known patriotic colors, and made an image with them. I don't think it's my best work, but it's my first time making something patriotic. Not saying I'm not patriotic, I just didn't know what to do with the colors here and how to blend them together in the best way, so here is what I've got. There's some Tile Reflection as you can see (which is something that I've steered away from for a long time), Radial Blur, Polar Inversion, and other effects that are hidden because of the Radial Blur. There are aspects of some of the style I had when I first started, and some of the smooth style I have here as well. Nothing too special, but I did want to show my patriotism by creating this image. I hope you enjoy. This has given me an idea for a future project I may do which is making im...

Valentines in the Air

Image
Happy Valentines Day everyone! I hope February has been good to you all. Since it is Valentines Day, I decided to make a Valentines colored image for you. I started with this new style that I've been playing around with and attempted to make an abstract heart. I then decided that it was a little too empty, so I added a bit more color, and the heart went away...so yeah. I tried to get it to come back, but to no avail. You can kind of see it in the center, but anyway, here's the image. I hope everyone has a good day, and that you get lots of valentines, lots of chocolate, and maybe a rose or two.

New Year Spirit

Image
In light of the new year, there have been many people wanting to better themselves, make resolutions, and have a clean slate. Many people may think that when they miss one day, they have to wait until next year to start again. I'm here to tell you that you don't have to do that, but instead you can see each day as a new start. If life seems to get too hard and you fall, lift yourself back up. I made an image that I hope can portray that for you guys. It may not look like much, because it isn't really. I mostly used Radial Blur Deluxe (probably my favorite effect) and Splinter. This to me looks like two pieces of energy constantly renewing each other. When you get down, and don't want to get up (blue), either encourage yourself or have someone else encourage you and lift you back up (gold). I hope you get some motivation to continue with your new years resolutions. Keep going, you can do it!!

Winter Holidays

Image
Good morning everyone! I hope you are all enjoying your holidays so far this year and that all is well. It's pretty cold right now, but the holiday spirit always brings a warm cozy feeling into our hearts. Today I'd like to share an image that hopefully shows that holiday spirit, and keeps you feeling cozy while the winter weather takes it's toll. Again, lot's of Radial Blur Deluxe in this image for that smooth look and feel. I also have been playing around with an effect called Splinter which is under the blurs menu. That's how the nice paint-like feel was put in on the ice blue around the borders of the image. I think that added a nice, natural touch. I hope everyone continues to enjoy your holidays and have a happy new year in a week.

Thanksgiving Spirit

Image
First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I hope you have enjoyed it so far and have a wonderful thanksgiving dinner planned for later. So, I've been playing around with a few new plugins as mentioned last month, and I decided to give them a whirl with my new style. Not sure how I like it since it is combining my old style with my new style, but we'll see how it goes. This is called Thanksgiving Spirit and I used a Thanksgiving color pallet that I found here . Lots of Radial Extruder, Radial Blur, Zoom Blur and Dents in this image. I tried making it brighter, but I also didn't want to modify the colors in any way, so I left it how it was. I did a bit of layer adjustment too so that the colors would stay the same in the intricate design in the bottom left-hand corner. I hope you have enjoyed your day and I hope we can keep the spirit of Thanksgiving with us all year round. See you in another post here soon.

BONUS POST: Halloween on Hyperdrive

Image
Another new image for Halloween! I've been doing a lot of Paint.NET images lately and I'm excited to show you what I have in store. For this one I was experimenting with a lot of different effects, like Radial Extruder, ZigZag (both by TechnoRobbo on the Paint.NET Forums ) and a few classics such as Polar Inversion, and Dents. One effect I haven't used in a long time that I used here was Zoom Blur (no, not the deluxe, just the regular one), and some other blurs. Here's the image. I also kept adding new layers since I didn't want to use many of my favorite effects here and experiment with new ones. I also worked a lot with different layer blending modes and positioning the purple "light" in the right areas and making everything blend right. Overall, I think I did a pretty good job. I hope you all had/are having a wonderful Halloween and I'll post something on here soon.

Halloween Wolves

Image
Happy Halloween!! I have an image that I made last year for Halloween, but didn't get a chance to post it here before Halloween was over. Oh well, better late than never. Lots of Halloween inspired colors in this one, kind of messy, but still pretty cool none the less. As you can see, effects like Dents, Polar Inversion, and Tile Reflection were used, and the "eyes" for the wolf's head are there in the middle. Not my best image, but at least it's something posted. I hope that I get enough time to post regularly for a while, if at least once per month. Have a Happy Halloween everyone, and I'll have something else up for you soon.

Happy Holidays

Image
Happy Holidays everyone! I hope that everyone is doing well and having a great holiday! In light of the holiday season, I made a special artwork with the colors of Christmas. I call it Christmas in the Air. For this particular image I took a different approach to it than I usually do. I started with a few shapes and distorted them beyond belief. The shapes were red and green colors, hence the red and green in the image. The gold came as I kept modifying and duplicating layers and giving those layers effects. Christmas in the Air I hope that everyone enjoys and have a Happy New Year!

Rush of Autumn

Image
This image may be late for the time of year in some places since Autumn has already taken its toll and gone, but I decided to make an autumn based image. I used the colors of autumn, as you can see, and blended them together. I created the orange background first doing all sorts of crazy effects, then created the yellow layers, doing one effect, duplicating the layer, then doing another effect, and so on. I did experimental effects too and if I liked it, I kept it, and if not, well I deleted it. Here is the result. Rush of Autumn I feel that the colors blend in nicely and that the effects make it easy to look at, but you tell me. I hope that you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed making it. Feel free to leave a comment below for feedback.
