Throw Back Thursday: Two Images

Image
This is the first time I have ever done a Throw Back Thursday, but hey, first time for everything. This features two images that were works in progress, but that I never really finished since I thought I couldn't add anything else, but thought I needed something else in them. Well, here are the images. Time Travel Light from the Bottom I don't really remember very much about them in their creation since these were made in 2014. Time Travel I do know I used a bit of renderings and Zoom Blur Deluxe. Based on how the image looks, Light from the Bottom uses Zoom Blur Deluxe a lot as well as Dents. Not sure what my inspiration was for these, but I think that I just played around with different effects for Time Travel. Hope you enjoyed this edition of Throw Back Thursday, and I hope that I do this more often. It's really fun to look back at my older works and see how much I have improved. See you in the next posting.

Melting Furnace

Image
As school continues its toll, my brain (and quite possibly everyone else's) has taken a slight beating due to the amount of work and school work. Also not having internet and spending over 12 hours on the school campus is also tiring. Hence I wanted to make a flaming type of image that sort of depicted the state of my mind. I almost feel like my mind is melting in this furnace called my head, but we shall see how the rest of the semester goes. Anyway, the creation of this image was a bit different than what usually takes place. I didn't start with any shapes, lines, or scribbles, basically I didn't make this from scratch. Either that or you could say that it took 7 years to make this image. I used as a stock photo, an older image of mine called Glass Fire Explosion and distorted the crap out of it. Here is the original image. So after distorting with some of my favorite distortions, namely Radial Blur Deluxe, Frosted Glass, Dents, to name a few, and did a few layer b

Rising Phoenix

As the name suggests, a warm color pallet is in this one. Since school has started and cooler weather is coming upon us, just thought I would make a brighter image. I also noticed that most of my images don’t feature orange. So I thought that I would look online for good colors that go with orange, and blue was one of them. Not blue again!! Don’t worry, I hope that this image will be a bit of a change for the better. So I took a slightly different approach to this one than I usually do. I started with some random shapes that I drew with blue, and then with orange and distorted the crap out of them. I then tried different blending effects and when that wasn’t working to my liking, I flattened the image with the layers that I wanted and blended the layers using different effects. Here is the image. Upon further examination, and just thinking of how this could have an emotional connection to school having started, the blue could be something like the calmness of the first wee

Energy Ring

Image
Yet another art piece before school starts here for me. This one is titled Energy Ring as you can see in the title, as well as the image. I actually started this one a while ago, but I just never got around to finishing it. I then picked it back up and added the white circle and the electricity in the middle. I made the electricity all by hand and it seems pretty self explanatory. As for the rest of the image, Polar Inversion, Dents, and Radial Blur Deluxe. I don’t remember where the inspiration came for this image since it has been in the making for a while. It’s a nice cool blue which to me has that electrical feel to it. I feel that I like cool colors a lot and now that I think about it, I need to change my color pallet. I’ll try a few warmer colors next time.

Lightsaber

Image
So, I've been seeing on my Facebook feed these different lightsaber building companies coming out with cool looking lightsabers. Not being able to afford one, I dug around and found one that I got at least 7 to 8 years ago, which came in a kit to "build your own lightsaber." It's nothing too fancy, but it still looks pretty cool. So since I have this, and I learned a super easy way to add "lightsaber effects" to any picture taken, I decided I would do just that with a lightsaber toy. Be warned, this is really easy, but the hard part is getting the saber part lined up. Now, what I used is a scripture marker that I got a while ago for the effects which is pictured below. A colored pencil with the retractable lead will work just as well. Now I'm sure you're thinking, how will that do anything with my picture??? Don't you just color with it? Yes, or so you thought until now. If you take out a considerable amount of lead, then you have somet

Element 8 of 8

Element 8 of 8, Light, guides to truth, leads through the dark, and disperses shadow. Last one of the series guys. I was making this image and it took a few steps to get it to look how I wanted. I wanted a bright image, but not super bright where you couldn't see the details in it. I put a layer of black and did overlay which helped out a lot with that. I also flattened the image, and did a polar inversion on the whole thing to see what would happen and it changed the image a lot that I kept it. Something I haven't really done very often, but it works. I hope you all enjoyed this series as I did making it. Not sure when I'll post again on here, but hopefully soon. Thanks to all who kept up with me for the series and I hope to either get suggestions soon or some inspiration for what to do next. So far I have different kinds of rocks as inspiration and I'll see what comes from that. Have fun and enjoy the series of the 8 Elements!

Element 7 of 8

Image
Element 7 of 8, Shadow, misunderstood, twists the truth, and evil, yet cunning and wise. It took a long time to create this image. Back when I was doing the Elemental Power of Fire I came out with a bit of this image and saved it for a different occasion. Well, that different occasion is now, so here we go. As you can see it has a lot of red and black for that evil sort of feel to it, and I added a bit of grey clouds in the front for a more misty sort of feel. I also have red "eyes" since when I was making this it had that sort of appearance of eye holes so I thought, why not. A bit of Polar Inversion and an effect called InsideOut and some Radial Blur Deluxe to add depth and texture. Last element next week guys! Please send me some suggestions of what you would like me to do next. I'm not good at coming up with ideas, but this has been fun and has sparked my creative juices for sure. Come back next week for the 8th and final element of this series. Hint: Helps

Element 7 Info

You were probably expecting Element 7 here right now, but it's no where to be found!! Don't worry I didn't loose it or anything, I'm just planning to post it at a better time for this element. I wanted to post it in it's own element if you catch my meaning. It will still be today, just a little later. Stay tuned to find out what it is and when it is.

Element 6 of 8

Image
Element 6 of 8, Earth, wise and patient with the passage of time, provides for all, yet can also be hard and mysterious. First off, you may be confused at my choice of elements since I've done stone and earth. Aren't they the same thing? They very much can be, but for my purposes I think of them as different. While stone is hard and comes in many different colors and shapes, earth I feel is like the underground element, or soil and clay. I was going for a more underground sort of setting here, like the ground above the cavern was cracked and sunlight is flooding in. The "crystal" effect is more for the stalactites that are commonly found in a cave and some of the crystal formations that the earth makes. Same kind of effects as Stone, but with different colors and a darker/less colorful and less bright of an image. Hope you continue to enjoy these elements and I'll have one up for you guys next week. Six down, two more to go. I have to start thinking of what

Element 5 of 8

Image
Element 5 of 8, Stone, steadfast and sure of it's place, yet can be judged for what's on the outside. For this image I used a tutorial that I found on my flash drive, in the same folder that I have for my Paint.NET creations, that Heatstroke sent me a long time ago. I never tried it and decided I'd give it a whirl. To my surprise it came out to look a lot like crystals you would see inside some rocks! I then added a few swirls to give it that layered look you would find in some mountains near my hometown and there you have it! I did overlay a few other colors to make it the colors that it is, but aside from that, nothing too crazy. I decided since it was my birthday a few days ago I should make one that reflected my love for the desert. Thanks for sticking around and be sure to be back next week! Hint: Found on 29% of the planet's surface.

Element 4 of 8

Image
Element 4 of 8, Water, compassionate, caring, and playful, but can have times of tempest and rage. Half way there!! I played around a lot with layer blend modes for this one. I would distort the crap out of one thing that I made and then when I got something I liked, I would play with the layer blending to see what looked right. In the end, you get what you see here. I also made it very smooth and soft with Gaussien Blur (or however you spell it) so that it had that calm sense of life below the ocean. I then added a bit of a lighter blue to add the light since it was a dark image to begin with, and then bubbles since it adds to the underwater feel. Nothing too fancy with the bubbles since they're small, but if you'd like to know how I made them, just let me know in the comments. I think that the image came out just how I wanted. Be back next week for another element, of which you can see a hint for below! Hint: Usually found in the desert.

Element 3 of 8

Image
Element 3 of 8, Air, likes change, playful, loves to see the big picture, but erratic sometimes. Welcome back to the third installment of this 8 series elemental images, the Elemental Power of Air. I made this one in stages. I finished it a while back, but then as I was making and tweaking next weeks element and looked at this one again, I thought it needed more than what I had put into it, so I tweaked it some more. It was hard to get the colors and blend modes right, but I think I have depicted what air would be like if you could see it, bright, playful, and full of color. I have about the same kind of stuff going on here, but I have the focal point in the center, and green for a playful/garden sort of feel, as well as blue for the sky. The white just adds some light and sort of "power" to the image per say. I used basically the same stuff that I used for the last few elements, but I tried to limit my use of Radial Blur Deluxe. I hope you all enjoyed and join me next

Element 2 of 8

Image
Element 2 of 8, Fire, a sign of courage, compassion, and devotion, yet very dangerous! I thought after doing the Elemental Power of Ice, it was time to warm up a bit and make a fire one. Must stay warm during the winter season and I hope that this helps. I used pretty much the same methods as I did for the Ice one, but used the render effect of Fire and used Glass Blocks here and there, and more Dents for the wisps of fire. Again, lots of Radial Blur Deluxe here, but I tried not to use it to the extent of the Ice one since I like using that effect for ice and frost. I also did a lot of layer blending modes that I haven't really done or tried before and I like how they turned out. It gave me the brightness that I wanted as well as the effects of fire that I was looking for. Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed this series and I hope to post yet another element next week. Hint: It is everywhere!

Element 1 of 8

Element 1 of 8, Ice, misunderstood and often keeps to itself, but is knowledgeable and caring. Elemental Power of Ice! Here you go, the first of the 8 element series, and guess what, it's the 1st of February! What perfect timing to start these off! Anyways, about the image. Lot's of Radial Blur Deluxe to add the icy feel to it, but also Zoom Blur Deluxe. I didn't imagine the lines in the background would happen with the Radial Blur, but they did and I think it adds to the depth and icy nature of the image. It was originally going to be all light blue, but upon further tinkering and input from a good friend, I added the darker blue for added glow and color. I also added a front layer of white to make it have a frosted look to it, but sometimes I think I like it better without the white. Thanks to all for keeping up with this blog. I hope you enjoyed the first installment of this series, and stay tuned for the next image which will be posted here next week. Hint: S&#

8 Elements...Coming Soon

So I've been working on a new sort of project, it's a series of images that depict elements like fire, ice, water, etc. So far I have Ice and Fire is in the making. I'll post them one at a time during the next 8 weeks (or so if I have time). I've just been running out of ideas for images since I don't have time to really sit down and think about what I want to do. Since I already made the ice element, I can't change it really, but I will start making them desktop background size so that they are crisp and clear and so that when you view them full screen, you can see the details in them. Just posting an update of what I've been up to. I'll try to post one each week starting this coming Monday. Thanks to all who view this blog on a regular basis, even if I don't update it that often, but I hope that this will light a fire in my creative brain and I will have motivation to continue making images for you. P.S. I just realized, this is the first post of
