Desert Landscape

Image
I have done another competition on the Paint.NET forums, and my wanting to enter was honestly solely on the fact that it was themed on a desert landscape. I love the desert, and have been working on different ways to make stone textures, and I think through trial and error, I have been able to make stone textures fairly well. Not the best, but fairly well. There are others on the Paint.NET forums that are way better than I am, but I try with the effects that I know. Here are the images. The first one is the sig, and the second one is the full image. I drew inspiration from Monument Valley, and it definitely helped stretch me a bit more than I would have had I not done this competition. I haven't really considered doing scenery things when I started, but with dragons, desert pictures, and now this, it's definitely a stretch and I like it. Main effects used were Crystalize, Frosted Glass, Diffuse, Clouds, Fragment, Gaussian Blur, Motion Blur, and Gradient Blocks. Then t...

Lava Lamp

Image
So I did another competition that was titled Lava Lamp, and I didn't place in this one, but I certainly did learn a lot. The competition wanted just a lava lamp with no background, but I made one with a background anyway. Here are both images. Nothing too fancy here. Some layer blend modes, gradients, and blurs were used. I also used the wood tutorial for the sig entry on the wooden table. Even though I didn't place it was still a great learning experience for me and I hope to do it again soon if time permits. I have a hard time with posting two images per month as it is. I'll see you here soon with my latest image.

Signature Entry

Just posting an update letting you know that I won third place in the competition titled Pertaining to a Lumberjack. It was a fun competition and it let me use some creative juices I haven’t used in a long time. Here is the sig.  I recently stumbled upon a tutorial on the Paint.NET Forums on how to make a wooden background, so I used that on the background of the sig. I then used black text and layer blend modes to make the burnt on text as well as the writing on the ax. Overall, I learned some new things and it was fun.

Competitions

I’ve been becoming a bit more active on the Paint.NET forums, and have entered into two competitions. I’ll post my results of each one when the competitions end later on so that you can see my results. If I place, I may even add some more awards to my awards page! I’m excited to show you what I have made for them and I’ll see you here soon.

Left Behind

Image
Wow, I haven't posted here for a long time, and I started this blog too!!! That's sad, but oh well, never fear, here is one of my newest space scapes!! I made it for the SAC (Space Art Competition), and I got 3rd place! Not too bad for doing this for the first time!!! I really enjoyed this competition and I think that I've learned a lot from it!! Everything in the picture was made on Paint.NET except for the bigger ship. Pretty cool, and no, I didn't make the award, haha. I hope to get better and get first place on the next competition! I hope you liked the picture that I made as much as I enjoyed making it!! Feel free to comment as usual!

Inner Light

Image
Hey! This is one of my new pictures that I entered into a competition!! I got second place along with Heat Stroke, so I'm pretty happy about that!! I can't wait to see what the next competition will be on there!!! My goal is to get 1st place!!! Anyways, here's the picture. I tried to make this picture look like a tunnel that leads to Inner Light! It turned out pretty good in my opinion, but tell me what you think? I hope you like it!

Happy After Valentines Day

Image
I know, it's not Valentines Day anymore, but oh well. I didn't want to post this on here since I have a link on the Paint.NET forum to my blog and this was for a competition. I think that voting is over for it though so I'm going to go ahead and post my picture on here. It was for the WOTW #30 with the theme as Valentines Day! It's nothing in comparison to the other entries! There were some really amazing pictures in there!!! I hope you like it and that you had a great Valentines Day!!!

Sig Battle Winner

Image
Sigs, incase you guys are wondering, are signatures that are pictures. I entered my first sig ever into a sig battle, which is where two people enter a sig and people vote on it, and I won 3-0! Trey helped me out quite a bit to make it brighter, but overall, I made it. Here is the sig that I entered into the battle. I may enter another one into the competition, but I need to look for some pictures first. I hope you guys enjoy this picture!

AOTW #14 Picture

Image
Okay so I told you about the AOTW and how it was a competition! Okay so I got 2nd place with the picture that I shall put below. This competition needed to have the effect Polar Inversion so that's what I did on every layer. I call this Ice Inversion just because it looks like an icy color and I had to use the Polar Inversion. I'm happy with what I got out of it and I used a different skill in making this picture than I usually do! Thanks Trey for the advise!

AOTW #14

AOTW, standing for Abstract Of The Week, on the Paint.NET site is...you guessed it, another competition I put myself into! I hope that you like what you see there! The link is right here, choose the best one and comment on my blog which entry when the competition closes! After the competition is over, I shall post my picture up on my blog. May the best picture win!! http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/20272-aotw-14/

Lucky Number 13 Picture

Image
Okay, so here is the Luckey Number 13 picture that I entered and I got 3rd place!! I think that's pretty good for a competition. Anyway, now that the competition is over, I will post my picture here so that you can see what it looks like from here without having to go to the Paint.NET forum. That's it, and I think that it was an interesting sort of attempt. It was a bit challenging to make it look how I wanted. I wanted it to look like a crystal ball with the 13 inside as well as some clouds. If you like it, leave a comment below!

Lucky Number 13

Well, pretty soon after the competition on Paint.NET forums, I will put my picture up on here and see what you think, for now though, you will have to look at them yourself and see what you think of the competitors! Underneath the rules are the pictures so go and look at them and decide which one's the best! Website is: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/20086-aotw-13/
