Amethyst Within

Image
This image is made from scratch, so no stock photos this time. I decided I have used a lot of blue and red, orange and red, as well as purple and blue, so why not change things up. I took my own advice from last post and tried something new, and I like the results! I call this one Amethyst Within and I think it is awesome! You normally think of pink as being a bright, girly color that is happy, but I was playing with blend modes and when the darker image came up, I knew that is where I wanted to go. I also did something different, where the pink and grey background I made and used before everything else, is on top of everything. So say I created layer 1, then layer 2, then 3 and so on. Instead of keeping them like that, I stacked them like 3 on top of 2, which is on top of 1. More layers obviously, but you get the idea. I then asked my wife what a good name for it would be, and she said anything with the word Amethyst, since it looks like one. I didn't know about that gem, s...

Echo

Image
This image uses the same method I used to make Melting Furnace which is take a stock photo and manipulate it like crazy to result in a new image. This image I used Mystic Colors as the stock shown below. I used a lot of Dents, Polar Inversion, and a lot of layer properties to make it look how I wanted it to. The nice purple and blue shine that it has makes me think of sound waves, but you can't just make it sound waves, not the best name. Hence the name that was officially given being Echo. I hope you enjoy and I'll have something else up here soon. Enjoy my older works in the meantime and see how far I've come.On that thought, if you are thinking of trying something new and aren't sure if you will be successful, just try it. You will never know until you try. Take a look at my works, the first year was horrid in comparison to now and that's all that matters in life. If you've picked something up that you don't know if you can continue, again don...

Class of 2017

Image
My little sister has graduated High School and is off to college in a few days. That, to me, is crazy to think about since she is the youngest in the family. I don't know what I will do without her nearby, but I'm sure we will adapt. I know that I've had many experiences where I've left my family, and it was hard, but you have great experiences, and you may start a family of your own (like me). Goodness I'm starting to ramble on, anyways this image has a bit of the same style as the past High School graduation images I've made since I wanted to be consistent. This one is obviously a bit more full of color since I've gained more experience since 2010. Kaleidoscope was used obviously like the last ones, Zoom Blur Deluxe, and Radial Blur Deluxe to name a few. We've also moved since 2012 so hence she is graduating from SHS and not BHS. SHS' colors are yellow and blue so that is why those colors are the main ones here (obviously). Hope you enjoyed...

Dusting Off the Blog

Sorry for the long time with no update. I will be updating this here soon. A lot has happened since I last updated this page as well as Facebook, but as things calm down, I've been working on new images that I hope to have up soon. Take care everyone and I look forward to interacting a bit more on here soon.

Throw Back Thursday: Two Images

Image
This is the first time I have ever done a Throw Back Thursday, but hey, first time for everything. This features two images that were works in progress, but that I never really finished since I thought I couldn't add anything else, but thought I needed something else in them. Well, here are the images. Time Travel Light from the Bottom I don't really remember very much about them in their creation since these were made in 2014. Time Travel I do know I used a bit of renderings and Zoom Blur Deluxe. Based on how the image looks, Light from the Bottom uses Zoom Blur Deluxe a lot as well as Dents. Not sure what my inspiration was for these, but I think that I just played around with different effects for Time Travel. Hope you enjoyed this edition of Throw Back Thursday, and I hope that I do this more often. It's really fun to look back at my older works and see how much I have improved. See you in the next posting.

Melting Furnace

Image
As school continues its toll, my brain (and quite possibly everyone else's) has taken a slight beating due to the amount of work and school work. Also not having internet and spending over 12 hours on the school campus is also tiring. Hence I wanted to make a flaming type of image that sort of depicted the state of my mind. I almost feel like my mind is melting in this furnace called my head, but we shall see how the rest of the semester goes. Anyway, the creation of this image was a bit different than what usually takes place. I didn't start with any shapes, lines, or scribbles, basically I didn't make this from scratch. Either that or you could say that it took 7 years to make this image. I used as a stock photo, an older image of mine called Glass Fire Explosion and distorted the crap out of it. Here is the original image. So after distorting with some of my favorite distortions, namely Radial Blur Deluxe, Frosted Glass, Dents, to name a few, and did a few layer b...

Rising Phoenix

Image
As the name suggests, a warm color pallet is in this one. Since school has started and cooler weather is coming upon us, just thought I would make a brighter image. I also noticed that most of my images don’t feature orange. So I thought that I would look online for good colors that go with orange, and blue was one of them. Not blue again!! Don’t worry, I hope that this image will be a bit of a change for the better. So I took a slightly different approach to this one than I usually do. I started with some random shapes that I drew with blue, and then with orange and distorted the crap out of them. I then tried different blending effects and when that wasn’t working to my liking, I flattened the image with the layers that I wanted and blended the layers using different effects. Here is the image. Upon further examination, and just thinking of how this could have an emotional connection to school having started, the blue could be something like the calmness of the first wee...
